Refining

PT. Asianagro Agungjaya operates three refineries in Indonesia, located in North Sumatra, Riau, and Marunda - Jakarta. These state-of-the-art refineries have a combined capacity of closed to 1,000,000 tonnes of CPO per annum. Bulking facilities in Sumatra and Java complete the efficient transport and distribution logistics chain in Indonesia.

Intergrated Process

Asianagro Agungjaya produces a wide mix of quality bulk and non-bulk products. The Group also produces locally well-known branded Vegetable cooking oil, Deep Frying Fat, Margarine and Shortening products in Java and in Sumatra.

The refining processes use Physical Refining and Fractionation methods to refine the CPO. Palm oil is fractionated, using a simple crystallization and separation processes to obtain solid (stearin) and liquid (olein) fractions of various melting characteristics. First, all impurities are removed by degummed process and then the oil is bleached and filtered. The next step is to remove the odoriferous substances, free fatty acids and pigments by physical refining; the product of this first-stage process is known as refined bleached deodorized palm oil (RBDPO).

This refined product is saleable as an international commodity itself but is usually further fractionated to Palm Olein, which can be sold as cooking oil or further processed through state-of-the-art technology for specialty products.

Marketing

The oil palm industry's strength also lies in the CPO's unique composition which makes it versatile in its application in the food and non-food industries, its non-cholesterol quality and digestibility, and its stability at high temperatures which makes it ideal as a deep frying medium. All this brings about the increasing acceptability of palm oil over other edible oil products in local and world markets.

Niche Marketing

Each of the refineries has defined its own market niche and adjusts its product mix to cater for local demand as well as satisfying the broader objectives of Asianagro Agungjaya's marketing strategies.

A team of professional marketing experts sells refined products in the domestic, industrial and consumer markets of Indonesia and beyond. The planned expansion of CPO refining capacity to over 1,000,000 tonnes per year will enable Asianagro Agungjaya to meet significant growth in demand as well as utilize a greater proportion of its own CPO output.

Industrial and Consumer Markets

Sales to industrial and consumer markets are expected to escalate due to continuing population growth and increasing per capita spending power.

More value-added products will be introduced over the next few years, further enhancing consumer choice and growth of sales. Indonesia's population of more than 220 million constitutes a huge domestic market. The planned expansion of processing facilities places Asianagro Agungjaya in a strong position to capture major shares of these expanding markets.

Equipped with state-of-the-art processing, dedicated and skilled people, research facilities and keeping abreast of the latest research and development programmes, Asianagro Agungjaya is ready to meet the increasing demands and challenges of the international Oils and Fats market.
